About
Kato Alexander is an award-winning Toronto-based filmmaker working across acting, writing, directing, and producing. His short film Happy was supported by the Canada Council for the Arts and won Best Horror Film at the Toronto Short Film Festival (2025). His animated series, Untitled Kato Alexander Production, is an adult comedy–fantasy series that’s currently in development with support from the Toronto Arts Council. In 2026, he founded his production company, Studio Kato, and was awarded the Chalmers Professional Development Grant from the Ontario Arts Council.
As an actor, Kato has appeared in several acclaimed series, including Murdoch Mysteries (CBC) as Wilmer Anderson, Sort Of (CBC/HBO MAX) as Flavio, The Expanse (Amazon Prime) as Jianguo, and EZRA (OutTV) as Christian. His voice and likeness are used to create a lead player character in Ubisoft’s XDefiant game.
